I already gave up, started from the working save file and I'm already at lt surge so it's all good I suppose lol

Yup, the pain is real my friend. Luckily I had a save halfway to that point so I didn't have to start 100% over.
Maybe there is something for you in starting over

I'd use both usually but there were times were I wouldn't use the in game or battery save and I think somewhere along the line it got screwed up. Anyway I figured it may come down to that.

K so playing around with this a bit I went into my save file that I wanted then soft reset to get to the .dsv save file saved to make sure that one still could. I then went into the backup folder and deleted the .dsv . I went back to the game and saved again to watch it populating that file to ...

Deleting your .dsv save, loading the savestate and then saving should do the trick. At least it worked here.
