Phoenix Wright - game freezes during microphone mini game

I could really use some help regarding this rather annoying issue. Every time I proceed to dust for finger prints the game freezes 
I finished the first four chapters of the game and I'm on the 5th and final chapter now. The 5th chapter has introduced a new game play feature involving the use of the microphone and this is just my guess but I think that is probably the issue. In the options it says the mic is enabled but there isn't a red mark over the mic icon in the quick menu though I don't know whether that is intentional. All my settings are default. I would really appreciate some insight into this problem..... also it works fine in desmume and no gba. Thanks guys
