Pokemon Migration/Saves on Slot 2

How do you connect a save file to a GBA game? I want to migrate my pokemon from pokemon emerald to DPPt but the game doesn't register my save. What do I name the save and rom, what extension do I use for them, what directory do I put this in, is this even possible?
