Yup. Everyone hated it but I started with Gen 6 and didn't have much of an issue adapting.

I've modified my PKMN WHT 2 ROM for random encounter, so far I've encountered Virizon, Groudon, Uxie, Regiice and Registeel.

But I have to admit, I have heard about the Pokemon animal abuse thing... It went so far that PETA made a game about it. (PETA makes flash games that parody franchises containing cruel things done to animals, and Pokemon was no exception. Especially how trainers keep Pokemon in Poke Balls.)

EarthBound technically has animal abuse since the animals (and in some cases people) are taken over with evil mind control and are forced to attack you. You have no choice but to bash them.

They probably just haven't noticed the game yet. PETA usually parodies more current games (like Mario and Cooking Mama), so it doesn't surprise me that they looked over some old SNES game from the 90s, no matter how good it was.
