Problems with Soul Silver

Been having a couple, namely I loose ground textures shortly after which the game freezes, I go to leave a building which freezes on a black screen, or the game freezes after I talk to Oak and Mr Pokemon. I thought I'd see if it was an issue with the ROM but the new one has the same issues plus cheat database is now empty
