Xbox controller problem

I have a fairly odd problem when I map my Bluetooth Xbox one controller. The joysticks and d-pad do not work in landscape mode. They are not recognised anymore when I tried to map them again. But when I switch back my phone to portrait mode, after I map it again,it works again. I therefore can only play with my controller in portrait mode. This is not specific to certain game,and will happen even when a game is not running.
