Some ROMs not appearing

Some ROMs I download don't show up when I go to choose a game (they all go to the same download folder so that shouldn't be the problem).
I've tried unzipping them, but it doesn't seem to help, and the ROMs that do appear and work are zipped anyways.
Is this just a matter of those specific downloads being faulty, or are there potential other causes?
