Wrong BIOS? Can I use my DS XL BIOS?

Post by sofakng » Thu Aug 08, 2013 7:35 pm

I've just extracted the BIOS from my DS XL and the nds_firmware.bin is 128 KB and DraStic says it can't find the BIOS files even though I put them in my download directory...

It's probably the firmware, since the size changed between the older DSes and the DSi and that could be failing the check.

However, we really don't even need a firmware and that'll be removed next version, which should be out in a few days.

I didnt try dumping XL BIOS, but i think the DSi firmware is different from the DS lite. DraStic askes for specific checksum for the bios and firmware. If they dont match exactly you cant use them, unfortunately. I dont want to suggest piracy or illegal downloading but you might have to go on the Google front and go looking for the correct bios files.

EDIT: Firmware. Its probably the firmware.

So far with the people I've helped overcome the issue, it was the firmware.bin file that was incorrect. Probably a DSi firmware isn't going to work.
