Slot 2 - pokemon platinum (might be a stupid question)

I am trying to add fire red to slot 2 in the emulator and I have popped the .gba file in the right folder. But how do I know if it has actually worked?

If you are trying to access Pokémon transfering from GBA games, then I think you'll need access to Pal Park, which requires having both beaten the league and gotten the National Dex, which requires having seen every Pokémon in the Sinnoh Dex (I think the number is 210, but I might be wrong on that). Have you met these requirements?
