Drawn to Life DS

Hello,
Whenever I try to play Drawn to Life on the DS and draw something during a level with an easel, the ground disappears entirely. This happens every time I do this. This issue does not happen with other emulators. I'm playing on a Pixel 3 without any cheats.
Savestate before bug next to an easel (tap on the easel and press save in the lower right to exit back to the level and start the bug):
