Hi there,
I have just switched from using the Dalvik android runtime to using ART on my nexus 5 running 4.4.
Whenever I try to load any game it crashes the app and takes me back to the home screen. (Full on force quit.)
I've tried 4 different games.
Thoughts?
EDIT: Can confirm it's the switch, I switched back to Dalvik and it was fine. I assume google intend on rolling out ART in the near future or they wouldn't have put it in the developer options. So I assume you guys are going to have to support it sooner or later
Android KitKat switching to ART runtime. Can't run anything.
Re: Android KitKat switching to ART runtime. Can't run anyth
nothing? Is anyone looking into this?
Re: Android KitKat switching to ART runtime. Can't run anyth
why are you even complaining if you know it doesnt work in ART mode? its something experimental and yet you treat it as something more than that. Just switch it to dalvik and presto, no problems.
The android dev knows the issue (and is quite annoyed already with similar reports) and will look into it once he gets an update on his devices.

For what it's worth, I read that art had things working a bit tighter than dalvik but that for that reason, apps that used some exploits weren't working (what'sapp is one of these too). Google plans on putting these exploits back in later to ensure maximum compatibility. So it seems it's not up to the devs to fix that one!

The runtime straight up gives you a warning that things aren't going to work when you enable it dude, a lot of code that works in dalvik won't properly verify because everything about ART is experimental right now.

Waiting patiently for ART support.

The ART runtime environment itself is very experimental, and therefore might not work anyway.
Devices running Android:
- Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (CM12.1, overclocked, undervolted)
- Asus Nexus 7 2013 (Stock Marshmallow...to play Pokemon GO on...)
- Tenfifteen QW09 SmartWatch (Kitkat)
- Fujitsu Lifebook T4410 Touchscreen Laptop (Remix OS 3.0)

The annoying part is that people are treating this experimental option as 'the future' when its not even set in stone. people from play are even rating the app 1 or 2 * coz of it. i would call them stupid but it seems too high an honor to call them that.beansta wrote:The ART runtime environment itself is very experimental, and therefore might not work anyway.

Just for info, today patch change nothing.

I've been using DrAstic for a week and did not even know there was a problem with ART.
Guess it's been fixed now (by you or Google). Thanks in any case. ^__^
