Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver in game saves

Ok, so I've been playing Pokemon Heart Gold for a few weeks now and managed to get to the Elite four with very few issues. However, after beating the Elite four the game is required to restart and load the in game save. The problem being that this doesn't work. When the game tries to load the save it states that the save game will be erased due to corruption or damage. I've been going through the forums to find a fix but can't seem to find one. I realise that this may mean it is impossible to fix, but I thought I'd just throw the question out there to see if someone can become my savior. I also wondered if it would be possible to move the save game on to a desktop based emulator where I could get past this point and move it back to my phone where I can continue playing as normal.
