Legit on Fire TV?

Hello. I'm willing to spend the mere $5 for this app. The problem is... The Fire TV (which is just an Android device) doesn't have the Google Play Store on it due to the fact that Amazon and Google don't get along, and the only way to get the Google Play Store is to root the device, which I will not do. There doesn't seem to be a legitimate way to get DraStic DS onto the Fire TV.
I know how to sideload apps onto the Fire TV using apks, and have tried using cracked apks of DraStic DS (again, I'm willing to spend $5!) but they do not work, because when I open DraStic DS, I can't figure out how to change the directory of where the roms are located. It shows that it is looking in "/" but I am unable to change that to the location of the roms folder.
Am I missing something? Is there a way to legit use DraStic on my Fire TV?
I'm also worried that this inability to change the directory of roms isn't simply due to the fact that it is a cracked apk... that even if I manage to get it legitimately, that I'll still have this problem.
