trimming

Post by ecchi » Wed Aug 05, 2015 4:29 pm

Never tried trimming before. Read in some threads here that trimming has no negative effects and actually helps in compatibility in some games. The app I saw posted here was http://eden.fm/ndstoykotrim/. Is that what everyone's using or is there a better/more popular one?

And will compressing a trimmed rom make the original compressed rom smaller or it will have the same size as a compressed non-trimmed rom?

Trimming will remove uneeded files in The Rom & will decrease total cache file size needed to be kept running in RAM. Which in turn increases Rom memory speed while the Rom is in use. Allowing more time for The CPU to decode the code & encode to write to The GPU for rendering. DraStic uses software rendering. So the CPU does most of the drawing. While The GPU handles Video Filters.

The Compressing the trimmed rom will technically be smaller than a non trimmed & compressed Rom.

The trimmer most everyone is using can be found as follows, open DraStic app>Change Options>Advanced>set Auto-Trim Rom to on.

Trimmed & decompressed runs the best.
