I have been thinking about the Drastic emulator and how to best design a retropie handheld to be ideal for DS-emulation and other emulation. And I came up with an idea.
What if the screen shown to the user was based on what controls they were currently using. For example, the user could set only the top screen to shown when using the directly pad, and the bottom screen to be shown when mouse/touch screen input is used. The screen output would swap when hitting either of those controls, allowing rapid swapping between the two.
In addition, you could implement this for the partial screen mode (https://i.ytimg.com/vi/kg9jP79VCU8/maxresdefault.jpg), directional pad making the top screen the bigger screen, and touch/mouse input swapping the bottom to the bigger screen, and back on the fly.
This would allow a great way to make both 4:3 and 16:9 screen set ups an easy way to control both screen, depending on what kind of game they are playing (direct pad or touch based).
Would this be possible to implement? Thank you for your time.
Discuss anything about DraStic here.

You might be able to create a Lua script set up to do that.
