Has any one of you guys tried installing OS X on their rigs? I know it is a pain in the rear especially for those who aren't that well-versed with PC internals, but it sure is rewarding to see your rig booting to something it was never meant to boot into.

i did way way back. aside from the novelty, it sucks coz then you realise, windows does more than a shitty os designed for hiptards and folks that has too much cash. wish windows has a dock tho. one thats integrated.

Like kids who spend way too much time on Facetime and cliche transitions on iMovie, for one.

In fairness iMovie's leagues better than the crappy WMM that came with most Windows versions since ME. That being said there's not much to Mac besides specialised uses like iOS development, music production, and a few other things. And of course the novelty of one-upping your affluent neighbour by running OS X on a cheap $250 rig while he/she's content with that $1500 iMac they bought.

the irony is that if you install windows on a mac, you tend to use windows more than macos...

I made a hackintosh a while back, but I was working on an iOS app and at the time (not sure if it is still the case) it required you to be on a mac. So I think I had 3 different operating systems I could boot into, 1 windows, 1 mac, and 1 linux.

I've wanted to for a while now, but my parents would probably disown me if I ever do this to any of their computers, especially if I messed up on it.

I'm making due with a mac emulator for now. It's still a pain to set up the emulator though.

If I ever had to work on an iOS app this is probably what I'd do. But other than that I can't see it happening.

Setting up a mac boot (assuming you have the right hardware (getting better in newer tools) and a copy of osX) is no harder then setting up your computer to dual boot windows and linux at the same time.

Heck if you still have a free sata port on the computer you could even use a fully seprate drive and a usb boot loader so that it would never interfere with the normal operation of the computer.
